A few minutes ago, Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford (
@DuvalMagic) tweeted his surprise at a
joystiq article indicating that Gearbox's
Duke Nukem Forever fiasco was not such the fiasco reviews suggested it would be. Apparently
Duke Nukem Forever was the second best selling game in June after L.A. Noire. Now, I didn't play
DNF, (but our John Yan and Cyril Lachel gave it a
D- and an
F, respectively), and I'm not suggesting sales = quality, but I say good for Gearbox nonetheless. Maybe the game was a mess, but maybe Gearbox knew it was something people wanted anyway. Gearbox is one of my favorite developers, so a success for them makes me happy. For full details on June's NPD, check out the aforementioned joystiq article.
