You know Gearbox. They've been churning out some good stuff, most recently
Borderlands. Well,
Kotaku has a few anonymous tips saying that they've been handed over the code for
Duke Nukem Forever and are expected to finish it off for public consumption. There's even a chance that a playable demo could be launched by the end of the year.
Just when you think Duke would be long dead, rumors pop up that the project might still be alive. That game's a virtual phoenix, rising from the ashes over and over again. Gearbox has the experience in FPS development so I'm sure they could put out a good product.
If it does come out and it's a good solid game, who gets credit for it? I'm sure that Gearbox wouldn't go back to square one to make the game but if they are using the left overs from 3D Realms, which company will be the one to grab the spotlight? And if the game's horrible, would it fall on Gearbox or 3D Realms?
