I know some people are sick of the Duke Nukem franchise but it still doesn't take away the fact that the Duke Nukem was one of the most fun FPS games and it made a lasting impression on many, many people. It just shouldn't have been in development for 12 years with no end in sight.
Wired has a
write up detailing some of the events that went down and where it is today on
Duke Nukem Forever. It's a story of major scope creep and of a person who's too proud to come out with a game that might just only be in the top two or three in terms of graphics and functionality. It also goes to show that some people just aren't cut out to be project managers.
It's too bad that the game went the way that it did. I remember seeing all the E3 trailers and being impressed by what 3D Realms accomplished at the time. Now, who knows what's going to happen with it.
