It comes as no surprise that the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack was a smash hit as Xbox Live struggled to stay up the weekend the maps went up. What's surprising is how big of a hit it was as Activision revealed today that the map pack was downloaded more than 1 million times in the first nine days it was released. Also staggering is that people logged over 30 million hours of gameplay since the pack was released. With the pack costing $10 that's over $10 million in sales for Activision who has to be fast at work on yet another map pack for the game.
It will be interesting to see how well the map pack does when it's released on the PlayStation Network on April 24th. The PS3 version has sold well but not nearly as well as the Xbox 360 version but I imagine that they'll have good penetration with that audience as well.
