This year we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tetris, a game that I think everyone on the planet at this point has played in some form at least once in their lives. To celebrate Nintendo is adding two Tetris games to the Nintendo Switch Online service.
In a special trailer narrated by series creator Alexey Pajitnov himself, we learn that Tetris for the NES and Tetris DX for the Gameboy Color are coming to the online service and are available now right now. Should also be noted that this is the official Nintendo release of Tetris and not the Tengen version.
I mean what else is there to say about Tetris at this point. It's one of the most influential and important games in videogame history and as someone that was old enough that had both an NES and Gameboy, both versions of this game were insanely popular. I remember getting in trouble at school numerous times for trying to play Tetris on my Gameboy on the playground during recess as Gameboys weren't allowed at my school, but that didn't stop me from hiding under the jungle gym and trying to get in as many games as I could before the bell rang.
