Wizards and Square finally reveal a look at MtG x Final Fantasy

More On: Magic: the Gathering X Final Fantasy

I jump at any chance that I get to post Magic: the Gathering news here on the site; unfortunately, that isn’t very often. However, when we are talking about a collaboration with one of the biggest video game franchises in existence, how can I not?!?!

Wizards of the Coast and Square have finally given the world a glimpse of the long-rumored crossover set for Magic: the Gathering: MtG x Final Fantasy. Many thought that this would be a simple, Secret Lair release or something, but it looks like Final Fantasy is getting the full set treatment, much like Lord of the Rings got a little while back.

The set is currently planned for release on June 13, 2025, and will run through what appears to be the entire history of Final Fantasy lore. A video has been released that discusses the goals of the set and gives glimpses of the various art being used. As shown in the previews, you can see glimpses of characters across several games, including FF VII, VIII, and X, plus many others.

We’re just getting these short glimpses for now, but you can assume that Wizards will give it the full spoiler treatment as we get closer to the release next summer. Until then, I am going to start fantasizing about what my Moogle commander deck will look like.
