I've been having a hard time finding the motivation to keep logging in to Destiny the last week or so. I'm hoping it was just the seasonal Solstice activity being the worst iteration I've ever slogged through, or in any case didn't slog through. I had thought about writing a post up on it a week or so ago but just didn't want to pile on any more bad news for Bungie. Cliffs notes however: the path to unlocking the armor was unnecessarily long, and the juice in the payoff for doing so not worth the squeeze of the grind. Gone are the Solstice double stat focusing and the only way to claim high stat armor of any worth was through repeated bounty grinding.
Thankfully tomorrow Solstice ends and we usher in Act III of the Echoes episode for Destiny 2. Through Acts I and II we've been building up the big bad and hopefully are in for a nice payoff. We definitely have some new loot on the horizon, as the trailer below shows and with a new Artifact the gameplay should get a little shake up as we spend the next few weeks firmly entrenched in a machine gun meta due to the artifact buffs.
In other good news, some of the biggest gripes of the current worst grind in the game might have some light on the horizon. The gripe being exotic class item focusing, the horizon being with the next Episode after this Act III of the current one closes, and the light being attunement for certain slot perks you are farming for. The links for the tease points to Twitter and no, I'm not linking there on principle. But The official @Destiny2Team account was the source. Also the Destiny Discord ha leaked they are re-tooling Pathfinder to separate out the different game modes of Crucible, Gambit and Strikes. Pathfinder was a big step back from bounties overall and I touched on that in my review. It's already been reworked once over and the tinkering continues, but now that I am at the level cap I'm not even sure why I would care so much anyway.
In any case, I am excited to see where this last act of the Episode lands us as I think I'm actually looking forward to a more healthy balance of sprinkling Destiny in with some other games in my backlog. I did notice on my Playstation I am at 1998 hours played, so while I obviously can't quit before I hit 2k hours, I am looking forward to some other things as well.
