When smartphones became the norm I was excited to finally be able to play games on the go. Then I realized some games just suck on a touchscreen. One specific type of game, the match-3 puzzle, works perfectly on the phone. While I don’t play many games on my phone my wife is super into the match-3 style games. She’ll give any of them a chance, and as long as they’re not too pay-to-win she will stick with them forever. I came across Secret Puzzle Society and immediately thought of her. In this one you are searching for hidden clues to uncover the truth about a secret society of puzzle-loving villains. To achieve this, they will need to conquer levels and navigate rooms filled with traps. The biggest flex that might get me into trying this one is that this is a match-3 game with a story. “The storyline engages players in an investigation alongside Brooke, a character destined to stop the villainous Secret Puzzle Society organization by finding clues and unmasking their members. Together, they will explore abandoned houses, mansions and ballrooms, solving various match-3 puzzles to uncover clues and stop their evil plans.” Alright, gripping story might not be the best descriptor, but still, if I can get into this in short bursts while ignoring my day job, or sitting on the porcelain throne, why not?
Secret Puzzle Society is free on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.
