This morning, Nintendo dropped a Super Mini Direct for Mario Day, March 10th. Clocking in at 2:49 seconds, Shigeru Miyamoto starts the video by thanking everyone who has watched The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The movie made 1.36 BILLION dollars on a budget of 100 million. He goes on to announce that there is a sequel in the works, with of course, Illumination.
He kicked it over to Chris Melendandri who then followed up with a date for the release. April 3, 2026 in the U.S., with "many other markets" coming available in the same month.
THEN they gave us release dates for more Mario titles. The remake for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door will be out May 23, 2024. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD will release June 27, 2024, and we get three more Game Boy titles for the Game Boy Nintendo Switch Online app. Dr. Mario, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis, all available March 12th.
