2023 refuses to let up when it comes to new releases from major franchises. Baldur's Gate 3 will soon be joining the party and that party starts quite a bit earlier, or slightly later, depending on where you play. The PC version of BG3 is moving up nearly four weeks and will now launch on August 3rd. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 version has been pushed back a week to September 6th. As far as an Xbox version, developer Larian Studios revealed in a new update that they are still working with Xbox on getting that version up to snuff for both Xbox Series X and S.
Larian also revealed a slew of astounding stats regarding the breadth of content that’ll be available in the game at launch. Baldur’s Gate 3 includes three times more dialogue than all three Lord of the Rings books combined, with a script clocking-in at more than two million words. If you think that’s a lot, how about over 170 hours of cinematics, or twice the length of every season of Game of Thrones combined. The game also includes seven playable protagonists, a custom character creator, 11 playable races, 31 subraces, 12 classes, 46 subclasses, and more than 600 spells and actions. I’m sorry, what?
Clear the month, clear the rest of the year, clear the rest of the generation for the grandiose Baldur’s Gate 3. Sounds like you’re going to need it.
