Now this is something I've been excited about since they announced the match type list for AEW: Fight Forever. THQ released a new trailer today and showed off the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.
The Barbed Wire Deathmatch is a match where all the ropes are wrapped in barbed wire and rigged with explosives and after a timer counts down the entire ring will explode. This is actually a real pro wrestling match type, mostly seen in Japan and made famous by wrestlers like Terry Funk, Atsushi Onita, Mick Foley and Hayabusa. We saw the first one between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega at Revolution 2021 and... oh boy we all remember what happened there. The explosion in the trailer sure looks a hell of a lot better than the one we got at Revolution 2021 that's for sure.
Off the top of my head the only other wrestling game I remember this match type being in is Fire Pro Returns and Fire Pro World.
AEW: Fight Forever launches on June 28th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X, Switch and PC.
