With the Super Mario Brothers movie and The Last of Us receiving critical acclaim, great box office numbers and television ratings, I have a feeling we are going to be seeing more videogames being adapted to films and television in the coming years. One of those adaptations is coming later this year and it's a film adaptation of the racing game Gran Turismo.
Originally I thought this was going to be like the Need For Speed movie where they pretty much just took the name of the game and slapped it on a generic racing movie. Gran Turismo however is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a professional e-sports racer whose skills allowed him to eventually become an actual race car driver.
Gran Turismo stars Archie Madekwe, David Harbour, Orlando Bloom and Darren Barnet and will be released in theaters nationwide on August 11th, 2023. Check out the official trailer below.
