August 1992. That's when the videogame world changed forever as the first Mortal Kombat game hit arcades. 30 Years later and the series is still going strong and NetherRealm Studios, developers of Mortal Kombat wanted to thank the fans for all their support over the years in a thank you video posted to Youtube.
The ending of the trailer however was the most interesting part. At the end of the trailer we got a small tease of what's to come. We see what appears to be sand falling until it focuses on a single grain that explodes. To me this looked like "the big bang" or how the universe was created. This is just speculation on my part but after the events of Mortal Kombat 11, I think this is a tease hinting that Mortal Kombat 12 is going to be a full canon reboot with a brand new universe.
The ending of Mortal Kombat 11 really felt like the grand finale of the series and the ending of the entire story that was 11 games in the making. Honestly, I hope a reboot is the case. Not time travel and changing timelines, a complete 100% full canon reboot of the series.
NetherRealm and Ed Boon have been teasing MK related stuff for a while now so I would assume its only a matter of time before the announcement of Mortal Kombat 12 and personally Im starting to get hyped once again.
