If you haven’t been keeping up, Ubisoft has turned The Division franchise into a whole thing. Plans include a Netflix movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, a novel, and of course more games. The French publisher took the opportunity to update us on three current projects across The Division universe in a “Division Day” livestream yesterday: The Division 2, The Division Heartland, and The Division Resurgence.
Amazingly, The Division 2 received a content roadmap for year five, which includes four in-game seasons. Season one introduces a new roguelite game mode called Descent. The Castle settlement will also be getting a rebuild that plays out over multiple seasons – pretty neat. Season two adds a new incursion pitting agents in another confrontation against the Cleaners. Season three seems to be the most tame of all four, adding what is essentially a holiday-themed event. Meanwhile, year five’s fourth and final season will feature a brand new story DLC that includes new zones, new main missions, and a completely new endgame structure. That’s a lot of content for a five-year-old game. Though Ubisoft is really good about supporting their evergreen titles. I was even prepared a couple of months ago to jump back into The Division 2, but my save data was gone on PlayStation; which left me totally deflated.
Ubisoft Red Storm also shared the best look yet at gameplay from the upcoming free-to-play game The Division Heartland, which takes place in the fictional mid-America town of Silver Creek. Heartland is a PvEvP survival looter shooter, and I’ve been dying to get my hands on it. Red Storm has been playtesting it for about a year they say, with more closed playtests coming later this year for more platforms, which you can sign up for here. The team promised more news will be coming this summer – my guess is at the Ubisoft Forward event in June.
And finally, mobile game The Division Resurgence is entering its next phase of playtesting this summer, with iOS users getting to join the fray in addition to Android folks. You can pre-register for tests here, if you’re interested.
If you don’t want to just take my word for it, you can watch the entire stream below. Hopefully I’ll be seeing you fellow agents in Silver Creek before the year is out.
