Since Joseph Moorer of Games N Moorer joined Gaming Nexus, we've done a lot of memorable streams together. But one of the peak moments in our shared history came when Joseph, my son Aidan and I took to Joe's various channels to stream Heroes of Hammerwatch. Very few games have been as fast, furious, and fun for us to play as H.O.H., and we've gone back to the game several times over the years since it's release for more adventures and laughs.
That's why my head about burst this morning when I opened my email and saw that original Hammerwatch and Heroes of Hammerwatch developer Crackshell was getting ready to drop Hammerwatch II on PC and consoles this summer. Immediately, visions of late night stream sessions spent yelling and laughing (and keeping my poor wife awake) began dancing through my head. We're gonna be all over this one.
Offering the same four-player co-op as Heroes of Hammerwatch, Hammerwatch II is more of a direct sequel to the original game; an open-world hack-and-slash title with a focus on exploration and questing. Five distinct hero classes will be available at launch to allow your team to build up a balanced party; Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Wizard, and Warlock will be the launch classes. Players will wander the massive open world, including Hammer Island, the Fallowfields, and the mountains in Blackbarrow. Hammerwatch II will feature new day/night and weather systems, which will have an impact on NPC behaviors.
GN fave publisher Modus Games is handling the publishing duties this time around. PC gamers can wishlist the game here on Steam, but it will also be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4/5, and Nintendo Switch. Modus Games also announced today that a special edition of Hammerwatch II, Hammerwatch II: The Chronicles Edition, is available for preorder for $39.99 and will be available in retail stores and digitally at launch. The Chronicles Edition includes the original remastered Hammerwatch and additional character color palettes, facial items and a character voice pack.
We'll see you all this summer in Hammerwatch. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this game just rocketed to the top of my "most anticipated games" list. I'm beyond excited to hear more, and will share details as they become available. For now, check out the game's official site to learn more.
