Zen Studios' new pinball platform Pinball FX got off to a bit of a rocky start (Shrug. I like it.), but the company seems to be rebounding, coming back hard on the new episode of it's Pinball Bites show. This episode dropped one announcement after another, and each of them was significant in its own way.
The biggest announcement is that Pinball FX is coming to Steam on April 13, which will open up a whole new audience for the platform. Previously in Early Access, Pinball FX was exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
Five new tables were announced for the platform, including an awesome-looking Crypt of the Necrodancer, Williams Twilight Zone, and a Godzilla vs. Kong 3-pack (which includes three new tables, Godzilla Pinball, Kong Pinball, and Godzilla vs Kong Pinball).
Two new tables are going free-to-play on the platform, bringing the total to three. Fish Tales and Sorcerer's Lair will join Wild West Rampage as free to play. These are some banger tables, so this announcement is pretty great for players that want to try to go deep on some tables before investing too much money.
The team also announced the release of Marvel Pinball Collection 2 on Pinball FX, which will bring the "missing tables" Marvel's Avengers, Deadpool, World War Hulk, Marvel's Women of Power Champions, and Venom to the platform.
It's great to see Zen not succumbing to some of the negativity that surrounded the launch of Pinball FX (the game got review bombed on Xbox, for...I don't know why. People were mad that they had to rebuy their tables on a new platform, I guess?). Coming out swinging like this with a number of huge announcements is the perfect way to refocus the messaging and put the attention back where it should be - on the tables.
