After its peculiar non-existence at The Game Awards back in December, Xbox appears to be readying a showcase event of some sort for later this month. That's according to Windows Central, who is hearing from their sources that an event is scheduled for January 25th at 3PM Eastern Time, and it will feature heavy-hitting titles such as Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Minecraft Legends, among others. Windows Central further believes that Starfield, Xbox's big fish for 2023, may forego the event in lieu of a more singular showcase later in the year.
The event is understood to be titled "Xbox Developer_Direct" and it will be a much needed shot in the arm for Xbox after slugging through 2022 with a dearth of major first or second-party game releases. Windows Central added that this will not be an E3 or similar level showcase, but rather a more focused look at a few of the company's big titles planned for 2023.
Perhaps lending credence to the report, Aaron Greeberg, the vice president of games marketing at Xbox appeared to tease something going down later this week, in a Tweet from earlier today:
This should be a fun week, excited for the days to progress! ??

I'm looking forward to seeing what the team in green can bring to the table in 2023!
