Square Enix has finally announced a release date for their next iteration in the Final Fantasy series with Final Fantasy XVI at The Game Awards. Producer Naoki Yoshida appeared on stage at the show and showcased a brand new trailer titled Revenge as a nod to one of Clive's motivations in the game itself.
Final Fantasy XVI is set in a brand new standalone story in the Final Fantasy universe, set in the world of Valisthea, a land blessed by the Mothercrystals. You play as protagonist Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the name "First Shield of Rosaria" and sworn in to protect his younger brother Joshua. The fate of the world is decided by godlike entities known as Eikons and the people who have been blessed to call upon them called Dominants. Clive is caught up on a story of vengeance when the dark Eikon Ifrit is awakened and calamity is imminent.
