Remember
F.E.A.R.? The decent horror FPS game the solid FPS developed by Monolith and published by Vivendi that was released a few years ago? Well it turns out its sequel has hit a few
snags (John and I also heard this story while we were at E3).
It turns out that Vivendi owns the right to the game and Monolith owns the rights to all the characters and story elements (sounds like some fancy lawyering there) so it turns out that Vivendi can publish
F.E.A.R. 2 but they can't use any of the characters or story elements while Monolith (who was purchased by Warner Brothers Interactive and starting off this spat) owns everything else. I'm not sure what either party is going to do without the other (although Monolith seems to have the stuff that really matters) but it should be fun to see how the situation resolves itself. Personally I'd like to see all the lawyers thrown in a pit with one knife and surviving lawyer wins the rights from the other company...but that's just me.
