We’ve known about “Meetups” and “Side Bets” in Need for Speed Unbound for a while, but now we have our best look yet thanks to a fresh gameplay video from developer Criterion.
Meetups are what they sound like, with players meeting-up with other underground (pardon the pun) racers to show off their custom cars, and competing to steal each other’s cash. There appears to be a variety of race types, from speed races to drift events, with each event requiring a cash buy-in. It’s risky, but winning a race can result in some nice return-on-investment, including quadrupling your bet in some instances. If that’s not enough for you, you can also seek out rival racers for a one-on-one side bet for a shot to earn (or lose) some extra cash.
This new trailer is also a good taste of Need for Speed Unbound's moment-to-moment gameplay and the city of Lakeshore. Things are looking good ahead of the game's launch on December 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
