People really like Mario Party 8

Nintendo announced today that they've managed to sell 550,000 copies of Mario Party 8 which is certainly a good thing for the franchise but I'm wondering how many of those people are as disappointed in the game as I am.  Sure it's nice to have another decent party game but after a few times through the game I can't say I'm overly impressed with it.  I'm also not sure I'm a fan of the trend of announcing when you're game sells 500,000 copies but then again I keep publishing them so maybe the problem is with me.
