PlayStation second-party studio Deviation Games announced that co-founder and chief creative officer Jason Blundell has departed the company. Fellow co-founder and CEO Dave Anthony will continue in a sole leadership role at the company, and he has also assumed the role of game director on their current project.
Prior to establishing Deviation Games, Blundell was a former co-studio head at Call of Duty developer Treyarch, where he served as a producer and director on the Black Ops series, and was also one of the lead creators of Call of Duty’s popular Zombies mode.
In a statement posted to their official Twitter account, Deviation Games also announced several new additions to the team in the wake of Blundell’s absence. Louis Castle has joined as senior vice president of development, and he is the co-founder of Westwood Studios – the creators of the Command & Conquer franchise. Also joining Deviation Games are Jonathan Hawkins, Dean Rymer, and Tony Flame. Hawkins and Rymer are former designers on the God of War franchise, while Flame is a former designer for Treyarch on the Call of Duty: Black Ops series.
Deviation Games added that development on their PlayStation-funded AAA project is still ongoing and unaffected by the staff shake-up:
“This plethora of talent makes Deviation uniquely equipped to continue leading the ever-evolving games industry into the future, including with the continued development of our previously-announced, groundbreaking AAA original IP.”
