While another company has had a customizable high end controller, Sony's PlayStation line has been missing one they can call their own...until now.
Sony has announced the DualSense Edge, a PlayStation 5 controller that will let you change up many parts of it to suite your needs. Remapping is a big thing on the PC and the DualSense Edge will let you map the buttons and adjust the analog sticks in both sensitivity and dead zones. Some might like a smaller dead zone while others would rather increase it. The choice is now yours.
Not only can the sticks be adjusted, but the great adaptive triggers as well. Besides the dead zone, the travel distance can be adjusted to your liking. An example given by Sony is the shorten it to make for faster firing in first person shooters.
Now, not all profiles is probably going to fit all games so you can make specific ones and save them on the controller and swap between them when you load up a certain game. No word yet on how many profiles you can save, but you'll be able to cycle between them pretty easily.
You can swap out the caps of the sticks with three different types being available from Sony. Underneath the controller are two flipper like buttons that can be programmed to mimic other input buttons and they also sport swappable designs as well
What's really cool is the entire stick modules can be replaced. No more worrying about stick drift as if it starts to go, just swap them out. The video makes it look easy to replace so this should be a big win on this one for consumers to fix any stick drift issues should they arise.
Included will be a carrying case to let you travel with the controller in a protected enclosure as well as keeping all your parts and included USB-C cable together for easy access.
No word on when it'll be launched or the pricing of it when it comes out, but the DualSense Edge looks really promising for PlayStation 5 owners looking for a high end customizable controller for their console.
