Wayfarer Studios and Bandai Namco announced today that a live action film based on the popular franchise Pac-Man is in the works. The film will be based on an original narrative written by Chuck Williams, who is behind Sonic the Hedgehog and Brother Bear. Wayfarer Studios also announced a $125 million dollar investment to boost the strategic growth of the film project. Chuck Williams and Tim Kwok from Lightbeam Entertainment will produce film while Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi, Andrew Calof, and Tracy Ryerson will develop on behalf of Wayfarer.
Pac-Man is a long running arcade video game franchise that dates all the way back to the 1980s. It was released by the previously pre-merged Namco and gained extreme popularity in Japan. A TV series among numerous merchandises were created thanks to the success of the franchise. The Pac-Man series actually won the "Most Successful Coin-Operated game machine" in the 2005 Guinness Book of World Records!
