Sony and Naughty Dog released a beefy ten minute long trailer showcasing the improvements and features coming to the upcoming remake of the beloved The Last of Us Part 1. Aside from the improved graphics and load times, the game features overhauled AI and companion design, tons of gameplay modes, accessibility options, and customizations.
The remake builds off of The Last of Us Part II's AI system, allowing enemies to work together and strategize against you. Your companions will also do the same, allowing combat encounters to feel more immersive and life-like. This remake will also feature a permadeath and speedrun mode, catering to players of all interests! Director Neil Druckmann further explained that the DualSense controller will be heavily utilized, such as feeling Joel attaching upgrades to his weapons or Ellie petting the giraffe in the famous scene. Of course, adaptive triggers will also be used! Cosmetic outfits for both Joel and Ellie can be unlocked, allowing for tons of customization.
The Last of Us Part 1 Remake is coming to PlayStation 5 on September 2, 2022 for $69.99. The PC version is also in development but with no release date yet. You can read more about how Naughty Dog rebuilt The Last of Us Part 1 in the official PlayStation Blog post.
