Most people have been intrigued and entertained by a circus at some point in their lives. The exotic animals, creepy clowns and amazing performers have always drawn a crowd fascinated by things not normally seen. Now, imagine this taking place in Steampunk London where a mysterious maddening has turned everyday citizens into crazed killers and only the circus can save the city.
Circus Electrique from Zen Studios is a turn based tactical RPG that puts you in control of a team of 15 playable character types, each with their own mix of skills and abilities. Now you can be the Clown or the Strongman and do battle against “Bobbies and British Sailors gone bad, aggressive Posh Girls, the occasional menacing Mime or Robobear, and other over-the-top Victorian archetypes across six sprawling districts. The game’s intricate Devotion system influences your characters’ morale and performance both in battle and in the actual circus shows you’ll manage” according to the press release. The added circus management adds another level of gameplay as aside from the battles you still need to manage your circus to recruit new performers and build the circus back up to its former glory.
The trailer looks great with the mashup of Steampunk design and vintage Victorian imagery combining to form a unique canvas. I have always wanted to manage a circus, so when this unique spin on tactical RPG’s launches, London will never be the same. Circus Electrique is set to launch on September 6th on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Zen Studios has also released a gameplay overview trailer that goes deeper into the gameplay.
