It's real and it's here: Resident Evil 4 Remake. Capcom finally announced the official Resident Evil 4 reboot of the beloved title that revolutionized the franchise back in 2005 on the Nintendo GameCube.
The general plot is still the same, as it is set six years after the events of Resident Evil 2, and follows protagonist Leon S. Kennedy sent on a mission to rescue the daughter of the President of the United States.
Here's a quote from the official PlayStation Blog by Edvin Edsö, Promotion Producer at Capcom:
"This time, the game is being developed to achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game. We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard."
Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming to PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5 on March 24, 2023.
