Nintendo announced the official release date of the latest title in the Splatoon series. Splatoon 3 is a third person shooter that consists of a story-driven single player mode in addition to competitive player-vs-player online matches.
The single player campaign has you join Agent 3 in a fight against the Octarians and discover the secrets of a place called Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze. In addition to the solo play, there is also a co-op Salmon Run mode, where you team up with friends to fend off waves of dangerous Salmonid bosses.
There will be a player-vs-player Turf War mode across new and returning stages, where players face off in teams of four to cover the most ground in their own ink. The new trailer shows a glimpse at one of the new stages, in addition to a new weapon.
Nintendo also announced that active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can play the Octo Expansion DLC for Splatoon 2 at no cost! It is a great way to get ready for the launch of Splatoon 3. The Octo Expansion DLC has you play as Agent 8, awakening without your memories in a dark platform. You must navigate an underground test facility across 80 missions not found in the base game in order to escape.
Splatoon 3 is releasing exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. The game is now available for pre-order at select retailers and at the official Nintendo Store.
