PlayStation Plus is merging with PlayStation Now with three new flexible options

PlayStation is merging their two flagship subscription services, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. The all-new service, now bundled under the PlayStation Plus brand, will feature three tiers offering various features. The move is touted as a method for PlayStation to better compete with Xbox Game Pass. 

PS Plus Essential provides the same benefits that PlayStation Plus members are getting today; which includes two monthly downloadable games, online multiplayer access, exclusive game discounts and cloud storage for saved games. It also costs the same as the current PS Plus subscription $59.99/€59.99/£49.99 a year.

PS Plus Extra includes everything above but adds a collection of 400 of the most enjoyable PS4 and PS5 games which can be downloaded. This collection will include the likes of Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, God of War, Returnal, Mortal Kombat 11 and Death Stranding. The rest of the lineup will be announced nearer the time. Like Game Pass and PlayStation Now, additional titles will be added on a regular basis. PS Plus Extra will cost $99.99/€99.99/£83.99 a year.

PS Plus Premium includes everything from PS Plus Essential and Extra, but also adds classic games streaming from the PS1, PS2 and PSP, PS3 and PS4 game streaming, and time-limited game trials. This is the costliest tier priced at $119.99/€119.99/£99.99 a year.

Unlike Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation confirmed that new first-party releases will not be added to any tier at launch. Full details can be found on the PlayStation Blog.
