Nobody ever really talks about it, but it is kind of astonishing how quickly Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is able to crank out high quality content. Between the mainline Yakuza franchise, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and the Judgement franchise, this studio turns out these enormous games, highly polished and packed full of ridiculously cool stuff, in an amazingly short amount of time. It seems like every time I turn around this studio is releasing something new, and they just kinda shrug, like its no big deal.
Today, a new stand-alone story expansion is available for Lost Judgement, once again surprising me with the speed and stealth with which is was released. The Kaito Files is available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles as part of the Lost Judgement Ultimate Edition, or as part of the $29.99 season pass. And you can bet that its a banger, just like everything else Ryu Ga Gotoku produces.
In this new four-chapter story, Masaharu Kaito - a side character in the main game - takes center stage to solve a new case, which in turn reveals parts of his back story. With a new "Beastly" fighting style and a "Primal" method of investigation, playing as Kaito promises a new perspective on the Judgement and Yakuza universe.
