I spent about 45 minutes this morning messing around with the Steam Next Fest demo for BLACKTAIL, the new action/adventure title from developer The Parasight. Based on Eastern European folklore (and really, who doesn't have enough Eastern Europe in their lives these days?), BLACKTAIL is the story of a young woman surviving out in the woods while searching for her sister.
While this could have just been a standard survival shooter, I was surprised to find some really cool character work and an interesting morality mechanic. The game clearly offers the player certain choices, and will obviously spin off in different directions depending on which way the player leans. When it comes out, I might just go full evil for my playthrough; the offer to align myself with the Ant Queen to invade the human settlement was just too tempting. Take a look at my time with the demo here:
I stopped myself from going any further, as the demo did its job: I was convinced to play the full game when it comes out. But if you want to check out the BLACKTAIL demo for yourself, be sure to do so today. It disappears from Steam (and your Steam library) on March 7.
BLACKTAIL is scheduled to release on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles later this year.
