S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: HEART OF CHERNOBYL will be incorporating non-fungible tokens or NFTs into their game world deemed the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metaverse". Developers GSC Game World announced that they will "use blockchain technology to let the community own a piece of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2".
To become a "metahuman" in the game, players will be able to bid on an NFT auction in January 2022. The owner of the NFT will be featured as an NPC in the game and the real face of the owner will be recreated using photogrammetry technology. The next drop will be on February 2022 and be announced via Twitch and Discord.
The developers assured that these NFT drops won't influence the gameplay itself or give players an unfair advantage. All NFT items can be traded on the dmarket.com platform, even before the actual game release.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is releasing on Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X on April 28, 2022.
