Games N Moorer hopped into Asteroids Recharged last night, the new revamp of 1980's Asteroids coming to PC and consoles on December 14. As an arcade fan, and a fan of challenging shooters, Joseph offered this immediate observation: "It's Asteroids."
After explaining the game and its storied history, Joseph plays the base game briefly before jumping into Asteroids Recharged's many survival challenges. Several times, he notes "Oh, this will be easy", just to unceremoniously explode into a little burst of vector light. Joseph dies. A lot.
Asteroids Recharged very much looks like it will be a modern updating of the very early arcade classic. Atari, Adamvision, and Sneakybox have taken the core of the game and left it largely intact while adding new features, powers, and a much smoother visual experience.
