A game that was originally released in 2009 by Wayforward Technologies, A Boy and His Blob arrives on Nintendo Switch today! The game is based on an NES game of the same name, and mixes puzzle solving with 2D platforming. It follows an adorable boy and his new alien friend. It is available on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99.
The story is set in a kingdom called Blobolonia, which is under attack by an evil king. A brave "blob" has escaped and is in search of help, inexplicably landing on Earth and finding the protagonist. Players take control of both the boy and the blob, as they explore different worlds in order to save Blobolonia. The game contains a unique mechanic in which the blob must eat different types of jelly beans to turn into different shapes or objects in order to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
