We already knew from the Hot Wheels Unleashed roadmap that some content was coming from DC Comics and Batman, but the shape that these expansions would take hadn't been clear until now. But now that I see what's coming, I more excited than ever. Take a look at these trailers:
During the recent DC Kids Fandome, Milestone announced not just the Batman Expansion, but also a DC Super-Villains Racing Season, which is scheduled to start on November 11, 2021. The DC Super-Villains event will include six themed vehicles based on DC baddies: Bane, The Cheetah, Poison Ivy, Black Manta, Deathstroke, and Harley Quinn. It will also include a bunch of themed customization items for the Basement and player profiles. The season is expected to run through January 18, 2022.
On December 2nd, the Batman Expansion DLC is expected to bring a mountain of new stuff to the base Hot Wheels Unleashed experience, including a brand-new Gotham-based career map. There will also be a new Batcave to decorate, build tracks in, and race through (kinda like the existing Basement in the base game). Five new cars will make their debut - The Penguin, Robin, Armored Batman, Batman Rebirth, and The Joker - racing around all new tracks. The Batman expansion is included in Hot Wheels Pass Vol. 1, or you can purchase it separately.
The scope of these expansions makes me very excited to see what's to come from some of the other upcoming expansions and events. I knew that Hot Wheels Unleashed was going to build itself out into a much bigger platform than the already stellar base game, but I didn't realize just how far it was going to go. Bring on the Masters of the Universe stuff!
