Games N Moorer's Joseph Moorer dove into Zenovia Games' Steel Assault last night, and ended up playing the entire game. Because he has far more perseverance than I would ever have (I would have given up after five minutes), Joseph dug in his heels and managed to finish his playthrough.
Described as a hardcore tribute to SNES-era gaming, Steel Assault is described on it's Steam Page as follows: "Punch, whip, and zipline your way through a post-apocalyptic America in this 16-bit retro-style action platformer! Play as Taro Takahashi, a resistance soldier on a revenge mission against the dictator who lords over the ashes."
In practice, the game looks like a mix between Bionic Commando and Mega Man, with the main character using an energy whip-thing to both attack enemies and and traverse the surprisingly vertical levels. I dropped in on the stream last night, and it was a ton of fun to watch Joseph come to terms with Steel Assault's fairly brutal bosses. Check it out:
Steel Assault is now available on Switch and PC. The game is currently $14.99 on Steam.
