Square Enix announced today during the 2021 Tokyo Game Show that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be releasing worldwide on March 18, 2022 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via the Epic Games Store. The game is being developed by Team Ninja, who are the developers behind Ninja Gaiden and the Nioh series, in collaboration with Tetsuya Nomura.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin creates a blend of challenging combat that is reminiscent of the Soulsborne genre with the lore of the Final Fantasy series. Players will follow the path of Jack and his allies to discover if they are the true Warriors of Light that the ancient prophecies foretold.
In addition to announcing the release date, Square Enix also revealed a second demo version of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which serves as an expansion to the first demo of the game, which was available in June. In this new demo, players can discover a new area of the game, the Refrin Wetlands, alongside new characters, gameplay mechanics and enemy types. This demo will also be the first time players can test out the game's multiplayer capabilities.
The second demo is available from now until October 11, 2021 7:59 a.m. (PDT) / 3:59 p.m. (BST). Those who download and play the demo will be invited to submit their feedback to the development team via a survey. The survey will be open now through October 18, 2021 7:59 a.m. (PDT) / 3:59 p.m. (BST) and will be accessible from the menu screen of the game.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will have physical and digital standard editions for consoles and digital only standard edition for PC via the Epic Games Store. There will also be a digital deluxe edition, which features a digital art-book, mini soundtrack and a DLC season pass, which will include additional missions. Players who purchase the current-gen edition can upgrade to the next-gen version with enhanced visuals and gameplay at no extra cost.
Players who pre-order the digital standard and digital deluxe editions of the game will receive 72 hour early access to the full game, and receive in-game items such as the "Braveheart" weapon, the "Rebellion" weapon and the Lustrous Shield. Those on PlayStation 4 will also receive an exclusive theme.
