FIFA 22 is currently in early access and it’s during this time that the vast majority of players on Ultimate Team only have access to limited funds and thus rely on cheap players. Being the world’s most popular football league, the English Premier League is always the priciest squad to build in the game. That being said, there’s still some cheap, quality players that you can use to build a decent starter team that should get you through the first few days and week(s) until you can start upgrading some positions.
In goal, we’re going with Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy who stands at a towering 6 ft 6 and thus covers the goal very completely. Goalkeepers seem stronger this year than they have in recent years and Mendy feels very strong and good value. Next up, we’re going for Chelsea teammate Antonio Rudiger in RCB. Rudiger possesses good pace, defensive and passing stats making him a great CB. He’s quite costly but well worth the investment. Next to him at RB, we’re completing a trio of Chelsea players with Reece James whose versatility and crossing stats make him a great starting RB. On the left side of the defence, we’re going for Everton’s Ben Godfrey as LCB who’s one of the fastest CB’s in the whole game. Lastly, Arsenal’s Scottish beast Kieran Tierney fills the last spot as LB. Tierney possesses great defensive and attacking stats and is one of the best starting LB’s in the game.
Moving into the midfield, we’re going with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey as the middle, more defensive midfielder. Partey, whilst not boasting the best pace, is a great all-round defensive midfielder and holds the base of the midfield well. Partnered to his left is Arsenal teammate Martin Odegaard. Odegaard is a great ball-playing attacking midfielder who will surely provide plenty of assists. Lastly, Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez completes the midfield. Saul is a brilliant all-rounder boasting 70+ in all stats.
In the attack, we start down the middle with Leicester’s new man Patson Daka. Fine, I’ll admit it, he’s there for pure pace alone. Though, he does back his pace up with confident finishing for a player of his rating. We go to either side of North London with the wingers. Starting on the left, Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn possesses decent pace, shooting and passing making him a respectable player to hold the LW position in a starter team. Lastly, Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe takes the final spot left at RW. Pepe has great pace and dribbling making him a very tricky and skilful winger.
