Developer The Farm 51 and publisher All in! Games today announced that Chernobylite, the new sci-fi horror survival RPG, will release on September 7, 2021. Perp Games (heroes that they are) will also be selling a physical edition, available on September 7 in North America and September 10 in Europe.
But the super cool thing about this announcement is the release date trailer, which show just how much work went into The Farm 51's efforts to accurately photograph and recreate the real Chernobyl in the game. The trailer repeatedly shows real-life images from Chernobyl, and then the in-game representation of the same locations. The effect is stunning, and makes me even more excited to play.
“It’s humbling to see how Chernobylite’s original concept, an interactive VR documentary, has become a full-blown video game, soon to be available across a variety of platforms,” said Wojciech Pazdur, Director of Development at The Farm 51 in a provided statement. “We can’t wait for people to start exploring the hauntingly beautiful recreation of the real-world Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.”
