With all of the company's ups and downs over the last decade, Bioware fans often forget that it has been maintaining a full Star Wars MMORPG this whole time. Through all of the Disney takeover turmoil, Bioware has kept Star Wars: The Old Republic up and running, quietly adding more content as the years went by.
In honor of the upcoming 10th anniversary of The Old Republic, Bioware today announced Legacy of the Sith - a major expansion that will send players on a mission to secure a new planet for their faction as they uncover a plot by the renegade Sith, Darth Malgus.
The update also brings a level cap increase, allowing players to reach level 80. There is also a new character creation system, and the new Combat Styles system will allow player to mix and match power sets with different class stories.
There's no trailer for the new Expansion yet; I've seen a bit of rumbling online that the new was announced unexpectedly due to a leak. I'm sure a trailer will come along eventually, but in the meantime, here's a trailer for 2019's Onslaught Expansion, which goes a long way towards selling me on the game.
I've always wanted to dive into Star Wars: The Old Republic, but I've never had a PC able to run it. Now, suddenly I do. This new expansion is expected to go live this holiday season. Cold weather and Star Wars games - could there be a better combo?
