Today at Nintendo's E3 presentation, the company completely pulled the rug out from underneath the GN gang when it announced Metroid Dread, a new 2D Metroid game with horror overtones. Check out the trailer, courtesy of GameSpot:
Not much info is available beyond this trailer, though the beginning sound effects do imply that Samus is entering a structure from a forest/jungle environment. In the subsequent trailers, Samus is shown battling a number of robots and creepy-looking aliens.
Metroid Dread is scheduled to release on October 8, 2021. We'll post more details as we get them.
