Originally working under the title Project Athia, SQUARE ENIX and Luminous Productions announce that Athia is actually Forspoken. This is a new property from the also brand new studio Luminous Productions.
Also revealed during the SQUARE ENIX Presents event was the game’s protagonist, Frey Holland. Actress Ella Balinska will be performing in the role. You may be unfamiliar with Balinska, she starred in the 2019 version of Charlie’s Angels. Director of the film Elizabeth Banks once stated, “...men don’t go see women do action movies.” Hopefully men will jump into this new game which has a female lead.
Frey Holland is described as an, “ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in a fantastical and dangerous land called Athia.” Balinska describes Frey as, “Frey as a character is real, she’s raw, she’s a girl who lost her way—both figuratively and literally—and is a character I immediately connected with, as I feel many people around the world will too when they set off on this adventure.”
Forspoken is unrated at this time and is coming to both PS5 and PC in 2022.
