I'm not exactly into space Rollerblades, but I'm 100% into anything and everything the makers of Hyper Light Drifter are making. Which brings me to the cautious optimism I have in Solar Ash [official site].
Your character, Rey (although they should've just named her Ash, right?), wears her glowy skates and glides through teal and magenta landscapes. The journey carves through science-fantasy landscapes, with surreal, mysterious characters sparsely populating this living-inside-a-black-hole fever dream or whatever is going on here.
I'm rooting for it. I am. But this gameplay is mostly about movement and momentum, which is counterintuitive to my naturally slow-walking style of exploratory gameplay. It's a personal problem, I know. But if they give me a photo mode in Solar Ash, I know I'm not going to ever log out.
It's coming to PS4 and PS5 later this year. Here's some gameplay depicting the sweeping movements that carry you through this world, which appears to involve gathering strands of pink goop over leaps and bounds.
