Amazon Games today announced the delay of its new MMORPG New World. The game was originally scheduled to be released in Spring 2021, but will now be released on August 31, 2021.
In a blog post today, Amazon Games stated that it wanted to spend more time working on "compelling end-game features we believe are important to include at launch". Seeing as how many otherwise fun games are immediately trashed online at launch for poor endgame experiences, this is probably a really, really good idea. The above video has details on some of the stuff Amazon Games is working on. It all looks pretty good, actually.
After the Crucible debacle, you can bet that Amazon Games is going to hold back New World until they get it right. New World is currently in Alpha, which will expand on March 30. All players that have preordered New World will have access to a Closed Beta, scheduled to being on July 20.
