Gotta admit, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood finally put out a good trailer, banking on its rock-and-roll image. Screamo, even. I would probably also say, if we're being honest, that this trailer is more cinematics than it is gameplay. It also hints at an emotional resonance that's perhaps missing from the game itself.
Which is fine. I only mention it because the gameplay loop in Werewolf is an intentionally simple beat 'em up with lite stealth elements and very lite RPG progression. Nothing fancy. This is a budget brand, punching above its weight, and with that in mind, sometimes delivers on its promise.
That promise being: be a werewolf, tear stuff up, and learn a lot of pronouns about the tabletop role-playing universe of White Wolf Publishing and its World of Darkness. Lupus, Homid, Crinos. Garou, Gaia, Wyrm.
Earthblood is out today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC.
