I know Joseph Moorer, the namesake of Games N Moorer, pretty well. And, over the years, I can't say that I've ever once pictured him wandering around the woods of Eastern Europe, talking to prominent characters from folktales. But, you know, here we are.
Games N Moorer last night took a run at Yaga, the newly-released-on-Steam action/RPG/roguelike title from Breadcrumbs Interactive and publisher Versus Evil. From Yaga's Steam page: "The world of Yaga is a world steeped in Slavic folklore and ancient Pagan beliefs. Featuring a head-bobbing Romanian hip-hop soundtrack from Subcarpa?i and striking, hand-drawn 2D artwork. Yaga is an authentic love letter to childhood fables."
And sure, that love for folklore comes through loud and clear in the gameplay. But you know what else comes through loud and clear? The banging-ass soundtrack. Holy lord, this has to be one of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard. Mixing Eastern European folk music with hip-hop beats? Crushingly good. Take a look and a listen:
Yaga is now on sale for 40% off on Steam, retailing for $14.99 (regular price - $24.99). The Yaga Bad Luck bundle, which includes the soundtrack (totally worth it), retails for $17.80.
