Not just a piddly weekend, we're talking a whole week of Zombies action. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War holds the latest installment of the Uber-popular zombies mode and that mode is going free starting Thursday January 14th all the way through the 21st. This is part of the the mid-season update a new multiplayer map called Sanatorium, a new 6v6 mode called Dropkick, and a new Zombies mode called Cranked. There is also new Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile content.
According to the official blog (https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2021/01/Black-Ops-Cold-War-Zombies-Free-Access-Week) all three zombies modes will be available: the classic Die Maschine with all it's Easter eggs and powerups, the new Cranked mode where you basically are fighting not just a horde but also a timer - take to long to log your next kill and the timer will end your run for you, and there is also the Playstation Exclusive Onslaught mode that takes the entire map and limits the fighting area to a smaller rotating boundary ensuring faster action for greater rewards and weapon blueprints.
I'm well on my way to the Cold War Platinum and even though I'm still getting more server glitches that I'd like I can say the service is much improved since launch and my review. I'm also continuing to appreciate the Easter Eggs and intricacies of the zombie mode more and more. It's a lot of fun to just run and gun but if you check out a guide or two there is even more under the hood.
