Stadia came out swinging today at its “Holiday Live Hangout” event, announcing two brand new games added immediately to Stadia Pro (just two days after users received six Pro games). In addition, Stadia announced that two existing games will be coming to the platform in special edition formats.
The two new games coming to Stadia pro are Outcasters – the previously announced competitive combat game, and Submerged: Hidden Depths – a completely new title that the world did not know existed until today (I tried out Submerged: Hidden Depths and found it surprisingly compelling – see our review here).
Additionally, Stadia announced a new “Employee of the Month Edition” of Journey to the Savage Planet, the hit game from now-Google-owned Typhoon Studios. And launching on December 8 will be Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition.
Stadia Games and Entertainment also announced that they will be partnering with Thunderful Games on a new game available only on Stadia - though no further details were give.
Here some more info from a recent press release on each of these new titles, along with trailers for every last one of them:
Outcasters (click here to play) - "Curve your shots and be the last player standing in Outcasters, an adorably frenetic, fast-paced eight player combat game that tests your speed and creativity. Battle your way across vibrant, colorful vinyl arenas and curve your shots to creatively defeat your opponents. With customizable Outcasters and all sorts of power-ups this is a chaotically fun multiplayer brawler that gives a hook-shot an all new meaning."
Submerged - Hidden Depths (click here to play) - "A relaxing, third-person exploration and adventure game, Submerged: Hidden Depths sees Miku & Taku, a brother and sister, trying to unravel the mystery of a beautiful sunken city. Navigate the flooded streets by boat, scale collapsing buildings, and solve puzzles left behind. As a combat-free game, players can explore at their own pace, encounter surreal creatures and discover hidden objects that piece together the story of a broken world."
Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition - Journey to the Savage Planet is a delightfully irreverent first person adventure, providing endless opportunities to explore and absurd alien creatures to discover, all while attempting to survive an inhospitable planet. With Employee of the Month Edition, players will enjoy the base game and all extra content - including an enhanced photo mode, 60 FPS, visual refinements, and new in-game content.
Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition - "Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition is an action-strategy RPG and standalone adventure in the Valkyria Chronicles series, featuring gameplay that melds turn-based strategy with real-time 3rd person shooter tactics."
Though the Stadia team has had a few missteps in the past with events like this, I can't see anyone getting terribly upset about getting the highly anticipated Outcasters for free with Pro on day one. Submerged is also a nice bonus - my review should be live, so hop on over and check that out.
