When you first see the footage of the Sugar Fright Halloween event in Rainbow Six Siege, you might think you’re having some sort of fever dream. Rest assured, you’re not; it seems, neither am I.
Ubisoft has been hitting it out of the park with the seasonal events in Siege since last year. Today marks the start of this year’s unique Halloween event, being themed around puppets and candy. The event will run from today, October 27, to November 10 (a hugely significant day in gaming, if you haven’t been keeping track).
Speaking of fever dreams, the event starts on the premise of Frost (the Canadian Trap Queen) falling asleep after indulging in too much candy and having a sugar-induced nightmare, and that’s where we find ourselves during this event:
Yes, as you can see, those are Muppet lookalike puppet versions of some of the operators in Siege. Have a gander below to see some of the details of the event.
As with many of the timed events in Siege, there’s a limited number of operators to choose from for the Sweet Hunt PvP mode, 10 to be exact. On the attacker side, now known as the Tricksters, we have IQ, Zofia, Nomad, Capitao, and Thermite.
As for the defenders, or Treaters (we see what you did there Ubi), we have our dreamer, Frost, along with Pulse, Ela, Castle, and Goyo.
The rules for the mode are detailed by Ubisoft:
Survive the Sweet Hunt, a PVP game where two teams of five face off to collect 50 sweets dropped from player kills in one round of 10 minutes or less.
In a spooky map called Neighborhood, our Tricksters and Treaters collect sweets dropped from enemies to earn points or pick up the ones dropped from allies to block their opponents from those points. If you bite the dust don’t worry, your demise won’t leave you in limbo.
Each player killed will enter support mode then respawn to get back into action. Talk about being undead…
For this event, the custom game option will be made available. Leaving the event will create a leave penalty, for ranked and unranked playlist (30min sanction).
Simple enough, right? Get the most candy to win, while playing as a cloth puppet with a gun. Super normal.
While you’re indulging in the sugary violence, don’t forget to have a look at the cosmetics for the event. Siege generally have great stuff in their seasonal even Alpha packs. This event has 32 items, including the unsettling puppet skins of the operators included in the Sweet Hunt mode.
There will also be weekly challenges that provide a free Sugar Fright pack upon completion.
Hopefully we’ll see you in Sweet Hunt, as we use this event as the perfect distraction before the gaming world is turned upside down on November 10.
