Virtuix Omni One aims to be the Peloton for gamers

Virtuix's first omni-directional gaming treadmill, the Omni, was a Kickstarter success. I personally backed and received mne many years ago and while it hasn't been as smooth of a transition in using it with some of my games, there have been times where I've felt really immersed walking around it it. The problem for home owners is it's pretty big and bulky and Virtuix stopped selling it to consumers shortly after it started shipping it.

Enter Omni One. Omni One is built for the home and Virtuix wants it to be for gaming what Peloton is for exercise bikes. The Omni One doesn't need a safety ring around you anymore to keep you in place, going with a single arm and vest design. The design is similar to other gaming treadmills out there. The smaller design gives you 4-ft diameter surface to run on.

With how the Omni One is, you can jump and crouch, something you couldn't really do with the original Omni. I know I've tried many times on mine. That alone makes this a lot more versatile.

Once you're done, you can fold up the Omni One to store it.

It looks like a big step up from the previous Omni and is definitely designed better for the home setting. Right now looking at my Omni next to me, I wish I could trade it in for the Omni One.

Slated for the second half of 2021. pricing will be $995 if you want what's called the dev kit. They are also going to sell a complete kit with a stand alone VR headset for $1995 that allows you to play without a PC. They'll have 30 titles at the start in their own store including Call of Duty and Fortnite with more as time goes on. You can still plug it into your PC to play your own games, but time will tell if the support will come from games to take advantage of it. Currently, Virtuix hasn't finalized which VR headset they will sell with the bundle.

In a time where we're trying to find anything to do at home with the pandemic happening, this looks like a nice way to game and exercise at the same time.
